When you choose to green your energy through Green Alberta Energy, you are buying Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) equivalent to the amount of electricity you have chosen to green.

A REC is the environmental attribute of a megawatt hour (MWh) of green power injected onto the grid. When green power generators inject green power into the grid, they have the rights to sell their certificates.
